The Importance Of BALANCE In a Mix | How to Balance a Mix
One thing that can really separate an amateur mix from a professional mix is how it’s balanced. Let’s face it, mixing is all about balance.
A well-balanced mix can truly make it special and, conversely, a badly balanced one can destroy it completely; simply having a kick drum too loud can ruin the groove and distract from what’s important (not to mention how terribly it will translate to other systems).
Decisions informed by balance can make some radical and incredible results - just check out how incredibly loud the vocals enter in the first verse of Oasis’ Wonderwall; it really grabs you!
Creative decisions aside, I’d like to show you the importance of balance and then some ways to get it right in your mixes.
Hopefully, there will be some tips in there that you’ll find useful!
As always, hit me up with questions.
Stay creative!
James
